SJI National Young Rider Clinic Bursary 2015

Final preparations are underway for The National Young Rider Clinic, which is just about to kick-off on Sunday 5th April in Cavan Equestrian Centre with four days of intense Coaching of Irelands up and coming Young Riders.  The National Young Rider Clinic is a well-established and much coveted fixture on our Training Calendar

The National Young Rider Clinic, Sponsored by Mackey Ireland, is a residential Clinic for Athletes who have won a Bursary through a series of Regional Selection Day competitions. The Young Riders represent all the four Provinces and almost all 32 counties The Athletes were selected by Ian Fearon on foot of the Regional Assessments held in March

We were very lucky to secure some of Irelands best Coaches to put the Young Rider Athletes through their paces, including Ian Fearon, Gary Marshall and Tom Freyne who will hone their jumping skills, Gisela Holstein, Johnny O’Connell & Anna Dangerfield refining and perfecting the flatwork element & Laura Brown will grill the Athletes on their stable management.

The Clinic will start with the arrival of all the Athletes and Coaches on Sunday afternoon, at Cavan Equestrian.  After a welcome cuppa, and a quick goodbye to parents, Athletes will ride their horses over a course of fences built to test Athlete’s abilities and give the Coaches a viewing of all the Athletes and horses before Coaching starts on Monday

Mackey Ireland very kindly Sponsored Embroidered Jackets for all the Athletes, Coaches and Regional Representatives to commemorate their time at the clinic and these will be presented on Sunday evening.

The scope of the clinic has been expanded to include Bar 2 & Bar 3 Assessments, Personal Development, compilation of Rider Profiles, Fitness and much more.  Our Guest Professional this year is Anne Hanley (Reform Physiotherapy & Pilates) who will be taking each Athlete for an individual session, will also be giving a lecture on Monday night on Sports Physiotherapy & Sports Science.

The intrepid Regional Training Representatives will again be in residence for the duration of the Clinic overseeing the coaching and ensuring that all runs smoothly.
