Round four of the Horseware/TRM National Grand Prix League took place at a windswept Barnadown in Gorey, Co. Wexford.
Kilkenny's' Vincent Byrne notched up his second win in this year’s Horseware/TRM National Grand Prix League with James Weldon's 10 year old Gelding by ARD VDL Douglas, Mr Rockefeller.
57 starters took on Tom Holden’s track which took plenty of riding and certainly put horses and riders to the test.
Dermot Lennon took the early lead in the jump off and it took some time for anyone to better his performance. Last week’s winner Greg Broderick took on the challenge but an unfortunate refusal at the double saw him drop down the order.
Peter Smyth and the James McKean owned Victoria Rose, an 11 year old mare by Limmerick, took the lead from Lennon but it was the in form Mr Rockefeller who swept to victory with a pacey foot perfect clear round.
Consistent performances by Alexander Bulter across all four legs, including a lovely double clear with Monastery Stud More Please keep him at the top of the league table tied with Vincent Byrne on 28 points apiece. Mr Rockefeller is the leading horse to date with three impressive performances in a row.
