Capt. Michael Kelly and Alexander Butler dominated the GAIN/Alltech Autumn Grand Prix in Cavan this afternoon taking the first four places between the two riders in the fourth leg of the League.
Both riders set tough times in the deciding round with Capt. Kelly of the Army Equitation School coming out best of all with Mo Chroi having been last to go in a large Jump off just over a second quicker than Butler stopping the clock in 34.72. The Army rider also slotted into third with Drumiller Lough following on from the combinations second place finish at Eglinton last week.
Mo Chroi has been one of the stalwarts of the Army Equitation School, now 16 years of age, having won many Grand Prix Nationally and Internationally with the highlight undoubtedly being in the Longines Grand Prix of Ireland at the Dublin Horse Show in 2007 with Comdt Gerry Flynn.
After winning in the third leg of the League, Alexander Butler steered Will Wimble into second place in a time of 36.25. Butler then brought Vimminka in for fourth place in a slower time of 39.09 to complete the pairs domination of today's Grand Prix.
Catherine Thornton and Billie Jean O'Neill were the only other two riders to make it into the top six with Thornton in fifth on Milano just ahead of O'Neill with J Silky.
Capt. Kelly moves further clear at the top of the Leaderboard on 26 points with Butler now moving to second place on 18 points.
The next leg of the GAIN/Alltech Autumn Grand Prix takes centre stage at Killossery Lodge Stud near Ashbourne, next Monday.
