Eddie Moloney made a winning start to his season when winning the HSI/Blue Grass Spring Tour at Wexford Equestrian this afternoon.
Moloney was making his seasonal debut in the fourth leg of the Spring Tour and Wexford Equestrian Centre appears to be a happy hunting ground for the reigning Premier Series Champion as he also won the only other Grand Prix held at the venue in the Autumn Grand Prix League last November.
Alan Wade's track whittled the 38 starters down to 13 in the Jump off.
His win in November came with his own Goodwins 007 and the combination repeated the feat this afternoon. The pair broke the beam at 28.76 to shoot to the lead.
Neal Fearon slotted into second place with Paul and Michael Murphy's Heartbreaker stallion Exelsoir Van De Noordheuvel. Based in Kill International, Fearon steered the 9 year old to a time of 30.29 to just fend off Edward Doyle who took third.
Doyle was another who was taking part in his first Grand Prix of 2013 and his home bred stallion Samgemjee stopped the clock in 30.93.
Joan Greene made the long journey from County Clare worthwhile by taking fourth with Diamonds for Douglas in a time of 31.34
The Army Equitation School rider Capt. Geoff Curran took fifth with Mullaghbane while Billie Jean O'Neill finished sixth with J Silky.
League leader Daniel Coyle did not take part in todays fourth leg and luckily for him there is no threat to his lead as the top six all take their first points of the Spring Tour.
The HSI/Blue Grass Spring Tour now moves to Killossery next Sunday for the fifth leg of the League.
