Kilkenny rider, Vincent Byrne claimed his first senior win in a National Grand Prix this weekend at Maryville Stables winning with James Weldon's Mr Rockefeller.

Byrne, who is still in the Young Rider ranks, was taking part in his seasonal debut at Grand Prix level when taking the 10th leg of the HSI/Blue Grass Spring Tour at the Cork venue.

Mr Rockefeller has been a model of consistency throughout his career which includes a win in the 6 Year Old National Championship and several places in the National Grand Prix League and Premier Series and this win bodes well for him for the year ahead.

Tipperary rider Brendan Ryan slotted into second with Boomerang Breeze and put his first points on the board for the 2013 season.

Local rider Alan O'Regan took third with Electric Feel while Peig Van Amerongan was fourth with her mother's Graf Red Dawn.

Taking fifth and sixth was Ger O'Neill with his new mount Cristobal 21 while Derek McConnell put some more points on the board with Oak Park Clover.
