A competitive National Grand Prix took place at Portmore Equestrian very kindly supported by Bluegrass Feeds on April 28th, with 57 combinations taking on Rafeal Suarez built track. Jonathan Smyth, who was a prominent player all through the Autumn Series took the victory on the day with Ping Ball in the fastest time of the six double clears in 45.88. The overall victory also saw Smyth pick up the top Young Rider prize in the class, which is a €100 TRI voucher kindly sponsored jointly by TRI Equestrian and the Young Rider Committee of Showjumping Ireland.
No stranger to the National Grand Prix circuit, Liam O’Meara and Helen Sheridan owned Russel Style slotted into second place with a time of 56.54.
Ciaran Nallon and Zaronda 11 are continuing on the successful placings at The Meadows Equestrian last weekend and came out in third place in a time of 48.37.
Declan McEvoy and self owned ‘BLM Cosmopolitan Dandy’ took fourth place with a double clear in a time of 50.91.
Goodluck VDL, owned by Ivor Broderick and ridden by Neal Fearon slotted into fifth position on the day with a time of 56.74 and all poles in situ.
The final combination to keep all poles successfully in place was Max O’Reilly Hyland and Ahmed Du Calvarie in a time of 57.37.
The next leg of the Showjumping Ireland National Grand Prix will take place at Thomastown on the 6th of May.
