Once again, we saw high entries for our Allianz Autumn Grand Prix at Portmore this weekend.
Jonathan Smyth and Charlton Clio topped the field for the second time this series with the fastest of just five double clears in a time of 35.76.Smyth also found success in the 1.40m leg at the Northern Indoor Championships, held at Eglinton.
With less than a second behind, John Floody and the Brian Kieran owned, HTS Blackrock placed in the number two position on this occasion. This combination has also been victorious in a previous leg displaying an unbeatable second round in Wexford Equestrian in the 1.35m.
Smyth and Floody have been very close throughout this series and will are now level on points heading into the final which will be held in Cavan next weekend.
Smyth also found a podium finish with Ping Ball, owned by Clive Cathers with a time of 37.37 in the jump off.
Edward Hogg’s Always On My Mind and James Hogg had a successful day with a double clear and a second round time of 37.97 which secured him fourth place.
The Spring Tour Champion, Sven Hadley and Sumas Taloubet were the slowest of the double clears in a time of 39.51 to set him into fifth position.
Barry McCormack and Armani Velvet had an unfortunate pole down in the second round which put him in sixth place.
Cavan Equestrian will host the last two legs of the league. A 1.35m leg which will be held on Saturday the 2nd of December and the final on Sunday 3rd of December.
