Damien Griffin landed the thirteenth round of the HSI/Connolly’s RED MILLS Spring Tour at Mullingar Equestrian Centre, riding the nine year old gelding Tabby.
Ten horses and riders made it into the jump off from the 44 starters and at the finish only three combinations managed to jump double clear rounds, with Galway’s Damien Griffin fastest of the trio (35.40) with Pamela Donaghy’s Tabby (Captain Clover x Cruising), to take the lion’s share of the €2,500 on offer from sponsors Mullingar Equestrian Centre.
Gerard Clarke, who won the previous round of the series at Barnadown, took runner up spot at Mullingar with Rafiki (Simba x Animo Elite), finishing just over three tenths of a second slower than the winner.
Olive Clarke managed to guide three horses through to the jump off, with Louis D’Or (Landcapitol x Grannus) finishing best of the trio in third place (39.11), while Ausra Valuckyte finished fastest of the four faulters in round two, taking fourth place with Shannondale Macalla (Cavalier Royale x Clover Hill)
Elaine O Neill slotted into fifth place with Very White Z just ahead of Gemma Phelan who finished sixth with RVS Harley Ger.
