How to register for 2024
- All registrations can be done online on www.sji.ie by accessing my SJI

To Register a Pony and Pony rider
- You must be over 18 to register a horse or pony Pony/Junior Membership
- Junior Rider (must be in their 6th year minimum & under 18yrs on 1st Jan 2022)
- All ponies must be registered by an adult (over 18th)
- All ponies must be named by the relevant passport office and have a microchip number. ***We do not name animals**
- Ponies must be four-years old to register with Showjumping Ireland
- Ponies require an annual measurement prior to registration with the SJI until they are 8 years old or over.
- Irish Ponies aged 8+ being registered for the first time must have two (2) consecutive height measurements from the age of 8 and over. Dates for measuring ponies https://www.sji.ie/Ponies/Measuring-Venues ** (more will be added throughout the year)*
Eligibility of Pony Athletes
- A category defined as 128cms, for ponies not exceeding 128cms in height, to be ridden by children up to the end of the year in which they reach the age of 12 years. This category may be subdivided as 128cms, for ponies not exceeding 128cms in height, to be ridden by children up to the end of the year in which they reach the age of 8 years, (known as Under 8), or, to be ridden by children up to the end of the year in which they reach the age of 10 years (known as Over 8 and Under 10).
- 138 - A category defined as 138cms, for ponies exceeding 128cms but not exceeding 138cms in height, to be ridden by children up to the end of the year in which they reach the age of 14 years.
- 148 - A category defined as 148cms, for ponies exceeding 138cms but not exceeding 148cms to be ridden by children up to the end of the year in which they reach 16 years. Athletes must be in their 6th year minimum to become a member of SJI.
First time Pony Package Rules

- Inclusive Package for 1 Pony Owner. 1 Junior Rider & 1 Pony Registration & 1 rule book (Owner must not have been a member of SJI in past 5 years. Pony may have been previously registered.
Amateur Membership
- All new amateur members must complete form at https://www.sji.ie/Amateurs/General-Information
Horse Registrations
- All new horse’s registration- picture of the passports must be uploaded see video https://youtu.be/GI5pAT-Td_Y
- All horses must be named and have a microchip number (please contact HSI or Passport organisation.
- All horses must be over four years old to be registered with Showjumping Ireland
Children on Horses Registrations
- An athlete may compete in children on Horses competition from the 1st of January in the calendar year in which he/she reaches the age of 12 years until 31st December in the year in which he/she reaches the age of 14 years.
- All COH 2023 that they must be signed off by a Level 2 High Performance Coach before they compete higher than 1.20m on their horse.
Sport Members Package
- This package is for a Horse Owner/Rider (must be over 18yrs 1st Jan 2022) including one animal which may compete up to 1.m only. Note (Sports membership may not be used to participate in or register horses for classes above 1.00m or Amateur classes.)
